Here’s where things get interesting. At the turnaround on the Beeline (mile 18), we got a glorious tailwind and the road was a little rough but I was like, “Wait, this road is *really* rough.” I looked down, and sure enough, my front tire was flat. First thought: NOOOOOO. Second thought- I wonder where Seamus is and if he can help me fix this. Haha.
At the second turn buoy (1400 yds?) it started to rain. Fine, fine. I have swam in the rain. And then BOOM. Out of nowhere, the waves and wind and rain picked up and it was chaos. The wind was coming off the shore right at us, so the waves were coming toward us and it was pushing us back. One woman later said it was like the Hunger Games, where the Game Makers were like “Let’s make this more interesting.” haha
